Vidya College of Engineering (VCE) have been approved from All India Council of Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi, Govt. of India, and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

About AICTE, New Delhi

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was set up in November 1945 as a national-level apex advisory body to conduct a survey on the facilities available for technical education and to promote development in the country in a coordinated and integrated manner. And to ensure the same, as stipulated in the National Policy of Education (1986), AICTE was vested with:

  • Statutory authority for planning, formulation, and maintenance of norms & standards
  • Quality assurance through accreditation
  • Funding in priority areas, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Maintaining parity of certification & awards
  • The management of technical education in the country

AKTU Affiliation

Vidya College of Engineering (VCE) is affiliated to the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University- AKTU (formerly Uttar Pradesh Technical University), Lucknow. The Institute follows the syllabus and course structure constituted by AKTU. The University conducts all end term examinations and also award degrees to successful candidates.

About AKTU, Lucknow

Uttar Pradesh Technical University (now AKTU) was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8th May 2000 vide Act No. 1248(2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000. Under the University Act, 'Technical Education' includes programmes of education, research and training in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town Planning, Pharmacy, Applied Arts & Crafts and such other programmes and areas that the central Government may in consultation with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) by notification in Gazette declare.

The University is affiliating in nature and its jurisdiction spans the entire state of U.P. in affiliating B.Tech., M.B.A., M.C.A., B.Arch., B. Pharma., B.H.M.C.T., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in 238 colleges/institutions imparting graduate, postgraduate and doctoral level training in all government and private institutions located all over U.P. in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology as well as M.B.A. and M.C.A. programmes.

U.P. being the largest state of India with an area of around two lacs forty thousand square kilometers and population of more than 165 million people makes AKTU as one of the largest technical universities not only in India but perhaps in Asia. Because of its gigantic size and number of colleges affiliated to it and geographic dispersion, it has been sub-divided into five zones with 45-50 colleges in each zone for the ease of management and facilitating inter-zonal comparison and possible internal competition to enhance quality of teaching-learning processes.

UPTU is currently located in I.E.T. Campus at Sitapur Road in the Capital of U.P. at Lucknow but is in the process of having its own Headquarter building in its vicinity. Its NOIDA Centre and Regional office is nearing completion to facilitate closer academic and industrial interaction around that zone where a prominent cluster of private affiliated colleges exists.

BTE Affiliation

Vidya College of Engineering (VCE) is affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education, Lucknow (Diploma in Engineering - Polytechnic. The Institute follows the syllabus and course structure constituted by BTE, Lucknow.

About BTE

State Board Of Technical Education and Training was set up in the state in May,1958. The Board conducted its first examination in 1960, for courses of diploma level and also for Draughtsman Certificate Course. The name of the state Board was changed to Board Of Technical Education in 1962. In the same Year, the U.P. Pravidhic Shiksha Adhiniyam - 1962 was enacted awarding the Board statutory status. In the year 1962, year of its inception, the Board held the examination of about 2500 students, in three major disciplines of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at 25 different Centers/Institutions. The curriculum prepared by other institutions was adopted by the Board, till 1980 but thereafter the curriculum and syllabi were developed and revised, every five years at the Board level through its Curriculum development cell. The curriculum development work has been entrusted to I.R.D.T. kanpur . The Board now examine and approve the syllabus developed by IRDT, Kanpur and prescribe it for institutions affiliated to Board of Technical Education, U.P. About 1,05,000 students in the 60 different disciplines of one year, two year, three year and four year durations are being examined at present, in the institutions, affiliated to the Board.
